I've been wathing this exchange for a couple of weeks now, and I have to voice my support for n26825 on behalf of Mr. Gordon. The disrespect directed to Mr. Gordon is beyond defense. You may not like the man, but those who know him, know him as a mensch. He served as a mentor to a generation of hands-on engineers. He led in an era where results and personal satisfaction trumped the almighty dollar. His donations to the education of the next generation of technical business leaders are proof of his selflessness.

There can be no argument that Mr. Gordon was more influential to todays' world than Thomas Edison. Edison himself admitted that many of his ideas would eventually have been invented by someone else. He was a tinkerer in a garage. Meanwhile, Bernie solved some of the most difficult problems of our times. Besides the fact that the DATRAC was a 150lb., 500W toaster, Bernie proved the concept when no one else could. He left the easy part (miniaturization) to the less creative.

Bernie is in the top 25 technology movers of the 20 century. Remember him the next time someone you know has a head injury.
