Well, gainorpain, you proved to me that you know nothing about drug delivery systems or the FDA approval process, not that ether is required to make money in the stock market. In fact it's probably a hinderance.

First-The device in question is a transdermal patch..so there is no way it's going to be anything less convient than say put the patch on once or twice a day...so I don't see it in direct competition with ALKS appoach, but a niche application.

Second, the MW of Exenatide is about 4200. This puts it on the high end of what's possible in transdermal delivery...so it isn't a slam dunk. If it was it would have been done by now.

Third..they just announce phase I clinicals. If everything goes perfectly, it would be 4 to 5 years before it hits the market. That's because the FDA since the late 90's has considered each new delivery system as if it was a new drug. There are no shortcuts except maybe for toxicology and methods analysis of impurities.

Fourth- Things won't go perfectly. The MW of the drug means that there will be transport(and dosage) variability due to that factor multiplied by the skin's natural variation in porosity from person to person and dependng on that person's activities.

So my conclusions are...

1) This will have no near term effect
2)The effect will be limited
3)ALKS' fate still lies with the FDA review of it's own product.
