interesting, they are similar companies (UDR). I think that AIV is restructuring and repositioning around these gateway cities. I contacted investor relations and they are going to distribute a year end capital gain(from sales of apartments) in stock. I like the idea that UDR is going to get a lot of liquidity and expertise to capitalize on a buying opportunity(am I reading this correctly??) Whereas AIV it seems is probably trimming its debt with the sales and distributing the gains in stock. They are still probably going to be well positioned for the future. A lot of people got burned by real estate and it may take time for the stigma to wear off. Sorry about the rambling
