AEN will start selling (actual revenue stream) a new Diagnostic Panel product to detect Zinc&Copper status in patients who may be deficient this Month! November - it's already being marketed by their sales force (and AEN is the only company that has it).

Zinc&Copper may not digested properly and can remain "free" in both MACD and Alzheimer patients, enabling the progression of both diseases. Zinc deficiency and/or Copper Toxicity could be alleviated by AENs Test to identify it and their Medical Food to rebalance it.

Zinthionein boosts absorption of Zinc&Copper in potentially 25 million Alzheimer diagnosed patience, and the hope is by maintaining a healthy Zinc and Copper balance, patients can slow the progression of cognitive impairment.

The New Study announced today, will run 4 years, however early data from the first few Months will be enough to suggest Zinthionein benefit to be used as a "medical food" additive, that could be available for sale as early as first quarter 2010.

so bottom line - definite new revenue end of Month,
potential new revenue within a few Months from now.

It's notable that Aricept (a billion dollar Alzheimer drug) has limited short term effectiveness, while Zinthionein may continue to slow the progression cognitive impairment over the lifetime of the patient. (my own grandmother live 10 years after Alzheimer's diagnosis). Because Alzheimer's patients have so few solutions on the market, pretty much anything that shows a benefit could quickly gain market share. Because there is so little that can be done for Alzheimer patients currently, physicians are very receptive to try this new Zinc therapy approach according to feedback at medical conferences and from sales force gossip.

my own 2 cents;
AEN will be concentrating it's efforts on generating new revenue the next 6 Month with this new test panel and medical food, so we may not be hearing much about their other drugs currently between FDA phases for a while.
