If there is one area that AmSafe can do a little better at all, it would be in the investment of the float. Don't get me wrong, its portfolio held up so well it shocked me. Now, with the market cut in half, there bound to be more opportunities on the equity side.

It may not be fair to compare to GEICO which has more steady market, therefor the amount of float available for investment. But this business maintains float approximate 30 months' premium earned whereas GEICO only hold the float for 8.5 months. Certainly there is room to possibly earn a higher return, at least on a small portion of the float. What's lacking is someone like Mr. Warren Buffett. Though unlikely, it's not impossible.
