Back in September 2008, I had 2500 shares of ADVNB which i had bought earlier that year because I thought it was undervalued. Then the bear market selling really started and everything was getting crushed in earnest. There was one day last year in October when the DOW went down by about 800 points in one day only to rally by about 700 points the next day. I sold all of my ADVNB on that second day for $7.85 and netted proceeds of about $20,000.
I then watched ADVNB rally all the way to $9.00 and kicked myself for selling so soon and I contemplated getting back in. Luckily I didn't.
ADVNB has headed straight down since last year and currently sits at about 40 cents. If I had held my 2500 shares, I'd have $1000 right now instead of the $20,000 I sold for.
This is incredible wealth destruction on a magnitude that has destroyed portfolios... including Dennis Alter's own holdings. ADVNB is still listed but how long can it continue? This is a lost cause isn't it?
