Yes, this is an excellent company. It has also has a great group of long-term followers. You should not stay a stranger to small-cap stocks very long. There are a lot of undiscovered small caps that have far better potential than large caps right now. To me, deciding against buying stock in a company because it is small is just another form of unwarranted discrimination. Use the numbers as ratios. Size alone is not a key metric.

Currently about 6% of my portfolio is in AFAM. That is larger than most of my holdings. I am in a wide range of companies (different industries, different countries, diversified over long times (I don't buy anything that I expect to hold for less than a year)).
I have been in a lot of even smaller companies. I see a lot of bargain Chinese companies with excellent cash flow. One of mine (CHBP) just got acquired last week (by US company NBS), and I think well see more acquisitions like that. I like CKGT. I like CPHI. I like NOOF. I like UVE. These are all quite small and some have the added fears that they are overseas, but some are trading at a bargain due to (in my opinion)overly fearful investors. Some bigger companies in hardcore manufacturing are also selling at bargains in my opinion and have great operations and future (FLEX and TDY).

There are a lot of companies for which I would like to tell management what to do because I am disappointed with their direction. Almost Family is not one of these. I would not try to have AFAM change their direction. At this point, I think there are a lot of undervalued healthcare companies which are great purchase opportunities for AFAM. I think their acquisition strategy and integration has been nothing short of phenomenal. I don't think share buyback is the best strategy at this time. There are not many shares outstanding currently. I prefer they continue to acquire and expand in this environment. Sure the shares will probably climb, but I'd like to see them continue to build the company... bringing their method of execution to these undervalued business units (acquisitions) and continuing the march upward. Best regareds.
