I'm not worried about that "water backlash" .. no doubt ..
it is real , it's also one reason why I don't want to
see any Marsella drilling in NYS or PA !!!!!!
If the gas companies can't drill for that gas , it means
a supply problem and higher NG prices .... than can be good .
I also don't doubt that eventually, the Marsella formation
will be drilled and hopefully won't damage the environment .
the water issue is twofold
1) large quantity needed .... I highly doubt that that
the fresh water required would have any signifigant
affect on water supply .
2) contamination of ground water .. I don't see how , as
the drill holes are fitted with concrete casing AND the
gas drilling takes place thousands of feet below the water
table .
3) WASTE WATER .... HUGE concern, at least from locals and
NYC .... bringing up a million gallons or more of
water used for fracking can be dangerous ... spills, leaks,
etc and the contaminated water runs off into streams, or
just leaches into the ground and THEN destroys ground
water ....
With NG inventories bursting and very low demand, this
period of time should be used to address these things , such
that nature and drilling can co-exist, nobody needs the
Marsella gas for a couple of years ... later .... garce
