I was pushed to a comment after seeing your response to the attack on that other thread (and I was pushed to a new thread since I can't find new messages among the 26 mixed together there). You and ran into each other on the HANS message board a few years ago, I remember you as a friendly poster with nice skills in day-to-day TA. So don't let some idiots chase you off.

That said, you have a long-term stance on ANIK which doesn't seem to fit with your emphasis on day-to-day TA. Your basic premise here seems to be (paraphrasing, correct me if I'm wrong): management is poor, so institutions stay away, so there is no volume, so no one will make money, just look at the last 5 years.

"Institutions stay away so there is no volume so no one will make money" is a fine philosophy for day-to-day TA, as institutions and volume brings efficiency and thus predictability which would help with trading. But it is not so good a philosophy for long term investing. Long term investors are looking for inefficiencies in the market, so they can buy growth for less than it is worth and sell it for more than it is worth. So the less volume and fewer institutions, the more inefficiency, the better. As an example, when I first bought HANS there were days it did not trade at all - but later I was able to sell some of these shares for 100-fold gains. It seems to me what you have trained yourself to look for as a trader, and what drives your perception of ANIK, is actually a drawback for long termers.

Your emphasis on daily price movements also leaves me unclear why you are talking about ANIK underperforming over any period longer than a day. Are you within your area of expertise here? Why 5 years? If it because you first began following ANIK 5 years ago at its share price then, that is anchoring and not good for a LT investor. 5 years is also a time period in which ANIK has gone from deeply in favor to deeply out of favor, instead of a full market cycle. Why not consider one year, during which ANIK has made money and beaten the market, or 10 years, during which ANIK has made money and beaten the market?

As far as management, well no one is perfect. IMHO they have made mistakes and are too conservative, but that doesn't make them incompetent. They are increasing sales and building company value with new products, which is far better than most companies are currently managing. If they continue on their current path, eventually the institutions will find it and pay lots more for their shares than I have.
