Each broker has a specific fee for mutual funds. Sometimes a fund does not want to sell through a broker.

One example was when I wanted to buy Oakmark "OAKBX", it was listed w/Scottrade but they told me the fund was closed, NOT TRUE! I opened an account direct with Oakmark and deposit directly without any fee to the broker, the fund was closed for several years and it is one of my core fund holdings. p

Do you guys know how often brokers like TD Ameritrade remove funds from NTF list? Are funds intended to stay NTF for 5-10+ years or just for a a year or two to lure us in?

For example, you're buying YACKX for three years straight as NTF and then TDA demands a $50 each time you buy sell because an agreement with the fund company expired/changed/whatever. That's obviously hypothetical -- YACKX is for sure NTF at TDA -- but I wonder how realistic that scenario is.

This is typical of the information one gets from mutual funds. What I don't understand is why can't they simply broadcast to everyone out there what the % distributions will be and at what date it will happen. It would seem they pretty much know the day before they are going to distribute these dividends. And by posting this information to the various investment media, everyone would know and at the same time some of us wouldn't go into a small panic when we suddenly see a 10 % drop in the share price. Does this make sense?

This is YACKXs usual date for div and cap gains distributions which result in a drop in the NAV.
