Hey, this board is like a graveyard but I'm guessing there are lots of people who watch from time to time buy don't post. Me, once had both the USAA World Fund and the International Fund, put it all into the International ($900k) and have watched it go nowhere. I just looked into switching to DODwhatever and in the last month both that one and USIFX are doing about the same. Prior to that I wish I had sold off USIFX. Perhaps both compared funds have new managers, perhaps one had more interests in Asia and one in Europe, perhaps on in large caps and one in small to mid-caps. It's a new game. Who knows, but at this stage I'm still hanging on after selling half of my USIFX and putting it all into oil/n.g. That reinvestment has made up for hanging in with a losing USIFX. If USIFX management watches this site then know that unless you do better I am out of there with my other 500k. Of all my dealings with USAA this is the only area where I got a bum's rush. I believe others feel the same way.

Time to revisit this issue. DODFX up about 30% this year, USIFX up slightly over 15%. Five year chart for DODFX shows some increase over five years, you are about where you started with this fund after five years. Meanwhile, you have paid annual fees for this fund of about 0.6% more. Not trying to insult anybody, but this fund is not something to be proud of.

I like the folks at USAA. They really try to help when you call. The brokerage rates are great. But as I pointed out in my original post, this fund badly lags lots of others, yet continues to charge like it's run by Ken Heebner or Marty Whitman instead of guys that can't get out of their own shadow. What gives, USAA? Give me a reason to stay in this fund.

It's not a new board to me but nevertheless the past performance of USIFX sure hasn't been astounding, probably lower than even the DOW or NYSE and I bought it because I thought I would be sheltered from the crappy U.S. economy. USIFX managers, get it on, get smart. You are looking bad and you will see money flow out into other areas faster than you can blink an eye.

Hey folks, anybody out there? Obviously we got our annual capital gains distribution a couple of days ago but additional information on it is hard to find. Does USAA ever put out a bulletin of information? I guess not. At least as the year ends we holding USIFX have beaten the average domestic fund by a long way. I guess as long as things are working we don't need more information.

Concur this may be the star of the lot, for USAA. Morningstar gives 4 stars. For some reason, Morningstar only awards 2 stars to USEMX, which is doing very well, too.
ditto for USAWX, which seems to be improving with its new managers.
As you can see, my fund placements favor overseas versus domestic, and will get more defensive very soon. USAA has a few outperfoming funds, but also lots of mediocre ones. Pays to pick and choose.

The first thread was headed this direction so I thought I'd start a new one with more descriptive title.

I currently hold most of my IRAs with USAA. I currently like this fund USAA International best but also have a chunk in their Precious Minerals fund. I just shifted 10K over to the Tech fund as a starting position because it looks like Tech is taking off early this year.

I also have funds in the TSP "I" fund that compares itself to EFA which allows me to follow the international pricing trend throughout the day.

Anyway - Hi to all fellow USAA members. :-)

Great to have a forum here primarily for USIFX but also for USAA members in general. I have used USAA as my primary investing site for eight years and appreciate it's access and commission rates. I started switching funds from the tax-free intermediate funds to international funds to capture more capital gains instead of dividends. My state taxes dividends but not capital gains. It's been a good move. If people here did not notice the scam using USAA akin looks to get passwords then read the USAA site notices. It's interesting how clever thieves are now becoming. Their USAA logo looks identical to the real USAA logo. Happy investing. USIFX had a good day on Friday. Why not, foreign corporations are taking our jobs and our money and for a good part due to the union demands on benefits and output put upon our corporations. We can't compete.

Thanks to whoever got this site up and going.
