Just sold(exchanged for treasury fund) 1/2 my hodings in this fund. It's 1 yr. return(as of 12/31/2007) was only .60%(less than 1%). This compared to it's benchmark of 6.34%. WHY? I called T.Rowe Price & suggested they fire the fund manager.

The distribution does not reduce your total value since you either get it in cash or in more shares. I always elect the automatic reinvestment (more shares). You will owe taxes on the distribution either way.

I have held this fund for several years also, and I agree that the returns have been good, although as a "value" fund it was below average in 2007. I like the portfolio mix. Lots of companies that fly below the radar.

Looks like now would be a good time to buy more shares.

She inherited this fund several years ago, and it seems to be a good performer. Well, only 1.8% this year, but the other years were good. At distribution time come December, however, the fund always loses several dollars in NAV. Why would anyone invest right before distribution time when you know it's going down? Am I missing something?

Anyone care to share their opinion of this fund? I'm not sure how much money she has made on it in the last five years or so, but it is in a Roth IRA protected from taxes.

I will be shifting some of my shares of this fund to another TRP fund. I believe the fund is closed to new investors so if I got out completely I might not be able to get back in. I'm into it for the long haul and not short term results. I'm shifting shares because I need to be more diversified for the down days ahead.

Just shifted all of my balance of this to TRP Spectrum Income. The NAV fell below a sell level I established a while back... we'll see what happens.

Some curent news items aren't strong on Mid Caps just now... We are all learning what to do during down markets,

Really hard to beat for longevity... this has been my four-fund IRA anchor for years... I never 'get tired' of it.

... but for a little more stability, you may want to get half or so into TRP Cap Appreciation (PRWCX)... Funds are not bullet proof, but PRWCX is about as close as you can get to bullet proof. If TRMCX ever gives you the "swing-fits" consider heading to PRWCX and / or PRSIX
