You likely came out well selling in October, but you will miss the bounce. Buy LOW, sell HIGH. Dollar cost averaging over a period of years, diversification, and periodic balancing to your risk is the name of the game.
PRGFX has been around a long time and is a great large cap growth pick.

I would not be too concerned. Looks like the Ultra fund has a new manager(2006) that likes the currently hot tech stocks like RIMM and AAPL--so the recent performance has been excellent in that fund. PRGFX also has a new manager that has done very well managing their Media and Telecommunications fund(check out its past performance), so I think you should expect to do very well here as well--with the added advantage of lower expenses than the Ultra fund. Bottom line, be thankful, since PRGFX is a top flight fund, and there are a lot of people out there that have worse choices to pick from.

Well, the new manager sounds very, very good from what I'm hearing(he did very well managing the Media and Telecommunications Fund). Heh, who knows, the new manager might be even better than Smith? I moved a bunch of money from Dodge and Cox Stock Fund(DODGX) into this fund because DODGX has gotten too big and the market is going to favor growth over value for the next few years at least. Going forward it is going to be a "Stock Pickers" type of market where the key is to find the relatively few strong Co's that can best weather economic turbulence, and having less money in a fund allows managers to operate more efficiently in that type of market.

That's not good, since even though TROW has a depth of talent, some of their managers are clearly standouts--Smith being one(as is Rogers, and Athey, and the guy who runs the mid-cap value fund). I think(know) Puglia is overated. I've been investing in individual stocks for many years and my performance has equaled or bested the very best fund managers(whitman,Tilinghast,Miller etc)--I'm really impressed with the top ten picks Smith has in this fund right now--kudos to him, and people in this fund should expect to do well.

The new fund manager has done pretty well on the Media fund. Look at the charts and see for yourself.

You are probably not picking up on the drop at the end of 2000 which is a capital gain more than likely. When one is declared, it is done by dollars per share....so it looks like about an 8 buck a share was declared...so the price drops by 8 but it really is not a loss, in the sense of what the chart displays.
