I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you need to tap into your principal in the next year or so. The whole National municipal market is in severe dissaray. Municipal bonds are very illiquid and when entities such as banks, hedge funds, and institutional holders have to unload them for various reasons, as has been happening for several months now, they must take whatever price they can get. this results in the MDXBX possibly buying some of these bonds at very high yields and very low prices, affecting the yield and the NAV of the fund in the same manner. Without getting too detailed, the credit quality of the bonds that Price holds is probably excellent, since the Maryland counties have some of the stongest balance sheets in the nation. In my case, I am periodically tax-loss harvesting and, luckily, buying back at a cheaper price. I see this situation as the most grand of opportunities.

I have other Muni Bonds in addition to this and they tanked even harder. I think that the problem may be the fiscal problems in Maryland and risk of default on the Bonds. I thought I was "safer" in Munis than Equities, but apparently not.

Trying to figure out the same thing. I think that it's got to have something to do with fear of default on some of the issues.

With the rate cut, I am expecting a surge today but who knows?
