I do think with the exception of some corrections, which are buying opportunities, you will have a chance to get into emerging economies. I think as long as the deficit remains high, dollar weak and growth remains constant in the emerging regions of the world, you need to have some money in these economies. I also diversify out the emerging economies to include Latin America and Eastern Europe. I personally own RNE, GCH, and LDF, which have given me decent returns/distributions. This link will have all the closed ended funds and index funds with their performances.

China and India are considered emerging countries where Japan is considered developed. This is a fund for international developed markets. If you want exposure to China and India I would recomend a closed fund like GCH & CAF for China or IIF or IFN for India. I personally own GCH which has return 65% to date for me so far. These funds declare decent distributions annually.

If you look at the composition of this fund you will notice that this fund has very little exposure to china and India. So a chinese market meltdown would not have a direct effect.

My question is why is china and India under represented? why is japan so over represented in this fund?

I have used this fund with good results to get some broad exposure ex-US.

I am getting somewhat concerned about some sectors of the ex-US market (e.g. some China issues.)
