Your analysis has one flaw - the EU economy is in even worse shape than the US, so either directly or indirectly it is going to need the same kind of external stimulus that the US government (rightly in my opinion) is trying to infuse into the US economy. I do not see govt debt levels being any better in the EU zone long term, particularly when you factor in pension payments for their far older population

I can't answer your question about PM, but I can ask if you know anything definitive about SSAIX's downward slide. It, along with my Matthews China fund, was my best performer until the first week of November. If you discover the reason for Rosenfeld's departure please post it here.

Thanks. And "good luck" in '08.

Does anyone know why SSAIX has replaced Didier Rosenfeld,
the funds portfolio manager?

The PDF announcement noted his departure but gave no reason.

The announbcewment named his replacement as Paul Moghtader,
another SSGA executive. What is his scorecard like?

I just came by and noticed a reply from you. I wish I had noticed it earlier. When you recommended GCH it was at $16.00 in March 07, now it's $39+.
What do you think, has it risen to it's top?
I hope you did as you said and bought in.
Thanks for the tip.

If you're kind of shakey about investing totally in US companies, including some international companies into your portfolio is a good idea.
I am getting the uneasy feeling that the Euro will become the future currency that will be used to value oil. If that happens the Dollar's value will no longer be supported by all the countries in the world who now have to purchase their oil based on it.
The current policies of the US Government are creating a huge amount of debt, this is putting great pressure on the Dollar's strength.
