Hmmmm... chart looks a lot like a classic double bottom.

Given the jump WAEGX will undoubtedly experience after the numbers are crunched today, could we be near the end of this *&^%$#@ nighmare that the markets have been since January?

I agree with you on most of this. A few years ago the PAX funds http://www.paxworld.com/ had a change in ownership. I think the new owners did, and still do, want to maintain a socially responsible investment philosophy but I have seen their standards slowly decline. The changes seem to be that socially responsible investing is good but we could have made more $ if we had not thought is so important. Also, they have intrduced a new fund that is gender biased. I hope better things happen with the Citizens/Sentinial deal.

Agreed, Ed_Terry! I haven't found anything online to make me feel better about this transaction, and your interpretation of Sentinel's interest in this deal sounds correct to me. I bought this directly as an IRA, so I'm going to research what it will take to get my money out.

I am very concerned about the pending takeover of Citizens Funds by Sentinel Funds. My purpose of investing a large portion of my portfolio with Citizens was due to its commitment to make the world a better place for all through Socially Responsible Investment. I was comfortable with the returns knowing there was a greater good involved.

I do not believe Sentinel has this goal as their core investment strategy. It appears they purchased Citizens Funds to offer a new SRI product, rather than to integrate the philosophical approach in their overall corporate approach to social change. Such a perspective is not even mentioned on the Investment Philosophy webpage (see link below).

There will certainly be more of a change than just the name on the statement letterhead. Either Sentinel becomes dedicated to social investing, or my money will find a new home that is truly a vehicle for social change.
