No. I don't think so. Try comparing ^gox, ^hui, ^xau, and gdx against this for periods of 3, 6, 12 months and see how it looks. There are days it does not track well, you are right, but overall, it closes in on what this level of leverage would do... both ways, however.....

GDX, XAU, HUI all up between 0.86%-1.5%+

Sucky PMPIX, which is a 2X LEVERAGED fund, goes up only 0.6%. That just doesn't make sense, but it happens all the time. Are the people running this fund crooks?

"a fund to trade and not hold for long periods of time."

I disagree with this part of your statement. But then again I own this as part of a broader strategy:

Basic Materials: BMPIX
Real Estate: REPIX
Large cap (Dow): UDPIX
Foreign: UUPIX
Precious Metals: PMPIX

I established this strategy back in May. Inspired in part by this article:
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/StartInvesting/StartInvestingWithJust100.aspx

The idea is the idea is to keep these 4 equal by adding new money into whichever is lowest (REPIX right now). Though I consider SELL a 4-letter word, PMPIX is up so much compared to the others I may have to do just that to bring this portfolio back into balance.

metals are breaking out of a 2 year base. the top three stocks in this concentrated portfolio are ABX, NEM, and FCX. which if you invest into this fund these 3 stocks will make up 60% of your money. nem and abx are breaking out of down trends and fcx is just going straight up. I am a financial adviser and am fully invested into this fund. it is possible that you could double your money in the next coming months to year in this fund. ****this is my opinion not a recommendation, i could be wrong (LOL). I will not be responsible if this doesn't happen as this fund is extremely volatile and is a fund to trade and not hold for long periods of time.
