When did Sanborn leave Oakmark?      6-Oct-08 09:10 pm
I purchased this fund when its manager (Sanborn?) was being heralded as the best of the value investors. Then after the go-go late 90s, everyone lost patience with him and he went to the list of worst fund managers. He wouldn't touch technology or anything he didn't understand. And he held the line on no more than 20-30 stocks for the portfolio. Fine. That's an approach that should work pretty well in a market such as the present one. But what's this--Oakmark at a new yearly low on the same day the market hits another low.? Where's Campbell's Soup? Wrigley? I think it's time to drop this turkey and invest in a few consumer staples that are paying a secure 4% dividend.
