Dividends are distributed after expenses. By my calculations this fund has disbursed $.5456 this year. Divided by today's price of $12.06 that's 4.5% which is pretty decent for a fund with this much growth.

I don't understand this fund. After you deduct the annual expenses, the yield is just 2.22%. You can do better with floating preferreds or a nice telco stock.

Yeah, I had noticed the same thing(what is it? about .18%). Maybe the fund manager is reinvesting the dividends--but people buy income funds for some relatively large dividend payout. If I wanted the fund manager to reinvest most of the dividends, then I would have bought the Asia Pacific fund. If you are looking for a Int fund that has performed well with below average risk and pays a high div, then check out PREMX(T Rowe Emerging Market bond fund). Granted, it is a bond fund, but it has averaged 15.4% for the past five years and currently offers a 7.24% div payout. Not too shabby IMO...

Is this a better bet than MPACX? I like the core holdings of this, and it seems to have a huge upside, considering the holdings and price.

www.matthewsfunds.com/the_funds

These guys have very good record in Asian funds, perhaps returns a bit lower than some but very solid, conservative picks. Good dividends on this one, well spread out over countries (Japan only 18.4%), I like this for long term play for dividends, currency play on weak dollar, hopefully less downside risk.

New fund(obviously). I don't know the holdings either, but I'm jumping in on this one based on excellent past performance of Matthew's other funds. Not too many other Int funds I like--Dodge and Cox getting too big--Harbor Int is excellent but holds lots of large caps(still Castregen is a whiz though). Matthews other growth+ income fund is closed to new investors. The growth and income bent of this new fund is bound to reduce the downside. I'm also considering their standard Asia Pacific fund.
