It usually takes a few business days for the distribution to show up in your account. You will get the distribution as cash or shares if you choose to reinvest distributions (this is an option when purchase the mutual fund). It is real money and you will have to pay taxes if you hold this in a taxable account. This is one of the disadvantages of mutual funds.
