The XLF was up 15% today. Maybe the IDFOX manager should look at the XLF holdings to get a clue to decent returns for the fund holders. I would like to stay here, but may have to go. Any other opinions out there?

I emailed them and asked the same question. They gave me a very friendly "go away" response which said that they have MANY holdings and the top 10 holdings are just a piece of the puzzle. Also he said that the "top 10" have not been updated since Sept. 30th so it is not accurate to go on just what you see there....very disturbing. I'm very disappointed in this fund and considering dumping it to go with a better fund. Especially after the potential change away from the financial sector focus! That's the whole reason I got into this fund to begin with!

I work for an inv. bank and I will present this comparison for you. When you go to gamble, who runs the tables and always ends up on top? The house. Ask yourself who moves the markets and profits the most no matter what the market situation? Financials, aka the house. At the very least, large cap.

The house always wins, therefore I'm long Financials right now. Not to mention the fact that they got pummeled by the credit crisis, they will write everything off and we will be back at summer valuations by Dec/Jan. I'm also a fan of the Bernake put in place, best free protection you can buy (or not since it's free?).

If the financials start to tank, the rates will be cut again. Saved.

No, I don't think that you are foolish for owning these funds. I have an ING retirement plan at work, it is actually a different division than the one that you buy from on the website, and the returns are reasonably close. In fact, I predict that the funds offered on the website by ING Direct will top my ING 401(k) because the fees and expenses are much lower.

You have to think long term and about where you are in life. These funds are awesome in the sense that they only require as little as $25 to open, have reasonable fees, and they have no initial or post sales charges.

My brother has money invested with Vanguard. Vanguard funds rock the house with insanely low expenses and the best management team around. However, they stink because the lowest fund, Vanguard STAR, requires a $1,000 minimum to enter. Most of the Vanguard funds that I like cost 3K to enter. I just don't have that kind of money to plop down at once. The ING Direct funds are the perfect way for me to avoid the high fees of my 401(K) and get some outside capital appreciation.

Did this help?
