I have been with this fund for over 20 years. I have seen hit by Black Monday in the late 80s and other ups and down's. I have been very happy with the company and the fund. Solid customer service. The fund doesn't seem to loose as much as others, and recovers well over time. Monthly returns are good. I don't mind the load. It's a flat rate, consistent, and when reinvesting the dividends elsewhere, it actually helps on the tax return with a selling at a lower initial purchase price. Just my dos pesos.

It can't go down much more, so yes better go up. I think it's interesting that this board is quiet while it's complete chaos in the mrkt. but the other Frkln brd. are a buzz. have lost a "load" on this loaded fund

The sales charge kicks in on the sale of the mutual fund at 4% over the NAV. So, if you can kick up 4% higher over the NAV before you sell, you sorta can null it out. But you're right there is a charge nevertheless.

Some employers are in bed with certain fund families and your 401K contributions are matched so nothing beats a 100% instant growth. Personal, taxable money though would be better off in a no loader if the expense ratio difference (usually cheaper on the loaders) adds up for how long you guesstimate to be in the fund.
