Health care is totally out of whack. Oh, no doubt these companies have plenty of cash and will meet their dividend payouts but with the Democratic health care plan and how to pay for it acting as a cloud no one is talking health care as a growth vehicle anymore. The fundamentals of growth expectation is put on hold and health care stocks will be in limbo for awhile. For a time this fund was way oversold but has bounced back up to boring again. Its fund manager is dealing with the X factor, Obama and the Democratic health care plan. Eventually, this thing will grow again just based on demographics (baby boomers getting old etc.) but until each health care sector knows its place when Obama signs his health care bill into law I expect this fund and health care stocks to drift this year--in a range not too low and not too high.

The fundamentals are good. Obama's tax perspective should help healthcare in general and this fund in particular since it invests heavily in medical equipment (old stuff gets obsolete quickly especially in scan technology), medical sevices and drugs(for an aging population).

I believe in health care funds regardless of their flat returns during Bush's 8 years as President. Looking at Fidelity's health care fund it looks like a great buy because its chart is near or at the bottom. If you believe in the demographics of aging the first wave boomers will hit 65 in 2011.

Medicines, pacemakers, hip and knee replacements will experience heavy usage. Stick with health care when you need it there's no alternative. Also consider Fidelity Medical Equipment and Fidelity Biotechnology.

My wife starting investing in this fund for our IRA when it fell down to its 52 week low. I look at investing as something that I will always do as long as I have a job and as long as I have reasonable cash reserves.

You should read several books by Jack Bogle, founder of the Vanguard Group, to get a better handle on investing. You must always remember that you as an individual will never know when the market is going up or down and you should invest when you can in light of that fact.

I am not a fan of the high expenses in this fund, 0.88%, versus Vanguard's funds. However, my wife is motivated by health care, so I was happy to find a fund that could encourage her to invest. Check out the Vanguard Wellington fund (VWELX) if you want a fund that has a 75 year track record.
