If that's all you hired your advisor to do and that's all he's done, then you are both fools. A financial advisor should actually offer you advice about the things you can control or influence: your budget, cashflow, taxes, goals, risk tolerance, etc and then give you the guidance, empathy, and professional judgment to help you make informed choices. I own this fund because it will deliver market returns predictably and reliably, which over an investing lifetime is much, much better than folks who are chasing yesterday's performance will ever get. If all you want is your shot at "beating the market" then you are absolutely right: an advisor is probably neither better nor worse than you and you should save your dough. Good luck.
