This is really two topics. Although when I look at the fund's performance it says it is up a great percent for the year, I look at my total investment and it has declined. Where is that money? Can someone tell me where I can check for actual gains, that is, minus fees? There should be simpler charts telling you actual percentage gain and percent given to fees / costs. I have several 401 k funds (yes, I haven't rolled them over but I'm thinking of rolling to ira) and none of them are very simple to understand although the concept should be simple. Are these funds intentionally making it complicated? Are they hiding fees or losses? Forgive me if I sound ignorant, I am a novice. This is asking a lot- can I roll my 401ks to a simple ira without fees and do you have suggestions for me. I think I will make a second post for this but I just got going and couldn't stop. Thanks for any information.
