Just got into it today with a pretty strong position. I was looking for a well managed conservative fund with preservation and income as it's main focus and the possibility of some decent returns. Am in my 50's and really don't want any wild rides, just smart common sense. What I liked most was the management team, the positive returns and it held up rather well in 08 when the whole world was caving in. Did a lot of reserch and I am hoping I got it right. If not, see you in the bread lines.

What a great sense of timing I have. I've been looking at this fund for weeks, and today of all days I bought it. Today it was up twelve cents, the highest I've seen in the last several months....UGH! LOL. With my luck, it will drop back and I'll be out a nice bunch of money. This fund looks good to me. I feel the management is careful with what they buy and run the fund well. Time will tell. Jerry

I am looking at this fund, but I am really looking for a AAA, AA corporate bond fund. I have found high-yield where most holdings are below AA, and then I found this one which has a lot of AAA and AA, but it also has stocks. I have plenty of stocks. Just want a corporate bond fund that is NOT "junk". Want no Govt bonds......too expensive now.

any ideas?

Looks like it's just us so far. Noticed that some weeks when the major indices are down, this fund is up. Not always, but sometimes. Think there will be another big leg down this year. After that happens, BERIX looks like a nice, stable fund to be. It won't knock the cover off the ball on the way up, but it won't make you poor, either. And the income looks pretty good, too.
Even though BERIX is usually 30% equities & 70% bonds and VWINX 40/60, BERIX beats a $10K investment in VWINX by $2,000 over the past 10 years. VWINX would probably win in a bull, but I'll take the one that wins over multiple markets.
