You may remember, back in the good old day's of the booming
stock market, that Barron was all hyped up about retires
and ski resorts and was heavy into prediction of future
trends..Oh well, guessed wrong...I bought into it to..I
think the first and formost objective of most investers is
to find a fund thats primary goal is capital preservation.Stick with them as long as that objective is in play...In a bad market you will still loose money, but not
as bad or as deep as funds like barron( looking for trends)

unfortunately we all lost 40% last year...in whatever fund you invested in. That is part of investing in the stock market...some years down 40 and other years up 30 but on average the returns are better than risk free investments. I have other money in "value funds" that invested in aig, fannie and freddie and other bank stocks that are lost forever...at least baron invests in real companies that he understands. I have invested with baron since the 1980's and he has done very well. I am confident this will come back.

I trusted Baron with my family money and am ruined. I just got my statement and cannot believe it. I cannot send my kids to college now and retirement is beyond a dream. I worked so hard for my money and to lose this much is just crushing. How could a group of so-called value managers that buy "businesses" lose their shirt like this?

I know Ron and he earned it the old fashioned way, he picked good stocks that gave his clients a great return over the past 30+ years.

Who are you, a 60 second trader who will scalp a momentum stock for 1/8? No doubt you are.

There are no free lunches, nor should there be. People who want and need the information to invest wisely, need to pay for it.

If you read the newsletters that come out quarterly you can tell he is very involved in all the funds as they all have similar focus and ideas. He is just doing the smart leadership thing and surrounding himself with good smart people. This gives him more time to explore new companies, trends and new Baron funds. I am sure he is involved in all new ideas.
I have invested with Baron since the late 80's and still kick myself for moving some $ out of Baron in early 2000 when the returns were lower than the overall market.
Years ago I began socking our kids birthday money and later bar mitzvah $ into barax and have done very well.

Ron Baron is not longer managing BARAX. I've been holding this since 1997. Does this bode well or ill? Intelligent opinions appreciated.

Why do you care what he does with his money? You should be concerned with the return on investment.

I have invested with Baron for almost 30 years and have done pretty well. My biggest mistake was pulling money out in early 2000 because the returns were lackluster and moved it into J@#$%. The J@#$% investment lost 50% and Baron lost much less during 2000 and more than recouped the losses.

Ron Baron
CEO
Baron Funds
767 Fifth Ave
New York, New York 10153

Dear Mr. Baron:

I just want to compliment you, as a retired portfolio manager of several SEC funds, for listing the COST basis for your assets
in your fine funds. We all know this data is easily available and should be shown.

I wish the SEC would have everyone do this.

Best,
