since march ABALX has been going up. I have been with Amer funds for 2 1/2 years, I switched from Fidelity. I watched my spreadsheet weekly comparing my old fidelity funds to the American Fds. They were BOTH beaten up badly and comparably. I got out early 2008 and got all of it into the Cash Mgt trust, when everyone told me just to leave it alone. I was in the same position you are, I didn't earn any money but I quit losing it ! Things have been steadily improving for 3 month, so I am moving back in. I think the rough ride is over, but there are still some bumps in the road for us all. I do agree that upper mgt at Amer is not available, I tried too, just to find out more about the company. During my inquiries, I was actually asked WHY I wanted to know the names of the upper managers. I told them that I was invested with them and had the right to know. Needless to say I wasn't told, yup it pissed me off, but in todays world, if anyone needed to be protected it was our financial advisors. Now, I will say this too. I bought into American thru my AIG broker. I kept asking him for advise as things went sour and eventually even refused to return calls. Now that is a REAL SOB ! Anyways, some one bashed Edward Jones, but I have a great relationship now with my advisor and they are working diligently and closely with me. I trust her.
