Good questions. I don't think the economists know the answers. They're just making it up as they go.

The answer to where they get the money is fairly simple. They run the printing press. There's no actual gold standard. Normally, this would be very inflationary, but the problem du jour is deflation so who knows what the outcome will be.

This has been a very tough week--and a very tough year. We'll come out of it eventually.
