No,I believe the reinvestment of gains is the best strategy for long term investments. I know that even Alger is headed in to more rough water ahead. I am keeping a close eye on the involvment of the government in all retirement accounts. If I see it going that direction I am out.

the current high of 9.22, that is more than a 50% gain, pretty good, especially when everyone thought the world was ending. The world isn't that good (but better), the stock market at this point doesn't care and wants to go higher. It is interesting, whomever controls the market (alot of speculation on that) wants it to go full speed ahead. Almost 9% unemployment, probably will go to 10%, and the market goes higher. Kind of funny in a sad way.

Thanks, it would seem a turn-around would be great for the fund. I was initially unsure how the 4Q08 revelations would affect value if litigation was brought against the company particularly if the portions were traded in and out of the fund (for a while it was not listed as one of the fund's top 10 holdings).

The fund holds about 10.49 million shares of Satyam . At 2.4% of assets this represents an increased position and I believe should be adjusted when the stock returns to the $8 to $9 range.
Yes the capital gains are reinvested in your 401k plan.

Year end capital gains-your assets in the mutual fund decrease by the amount distributed; the net asset value also drops proportionally. When the fund's NAV drops, you have not lost value because you will receive additional shares to equal the amount of decrease in NAV allocated to your account.
