The fund paid a long term capital gain distribution of $11.28 per owned share. The fund share price is reduced by the amount of the distribution on the ex-dividend date which was yesterday. Last year they paid $6.54 per share distribution. This is a 42% increase over last year's distribution. Pretty awesome, but taxable. This is how every dividend yielding stock works, so there is "nothing fishy" about the share price "diving". It didn't "dive" for any reason other than the equal reduction of the dividend (cap.gain) paid yesterday. The share price should continue to climb from here and let's hope for a BIG distubution next year too!!!!

I've had this fund for about three years now. They've paid dividends in the past but it's never taken a dive like that. I'm thinking a fund manager gave himself a big Christmas bonus or something. This stinks. Dividend or not, it just doesn't pass the smell test. There is no news in the energy industry that would contribute to a drop like this. I think Fidelity owes us answers.

The fund distributed capital gains. If you are an owner, you will either see a large cash deposit or, if you are signed up for dividend reinvestment, you'll find you own many more shares.

Remember that those capital gains are taxable; you'll owe the IRS (and maybe your state treasury) come April.

I believe they paid a $12.12 per share dividend, therefore, the share price dropped from $54.16 to $42.04. That dividend payment should be showing up in your brokerage account OR if you picked the reinvestment option, more shares will show up in your account. My share count has not increased as of today and I am not sure when the "PAY" date is. That's a 22.38% dividend for the year!!!!!!!

ENERGY is indeed going to be A GIGANTIC issue for at least the next 5-10 yrs. Whether it may be oil, oil distillates(sp?)...natural gas, heating oil, diesel, coal, solar, wind-power, fusion, nuclear technology, etc, etc...

BUT, IMHO, for the UNforeseeable future, OIL will dominate the financial investment markets, via research, exploration, development, drilling, pipelines, oil tankers, gasoline, refineries, etc...

There is MUCH oil in the world, but MOST of it is too difficult and/or expensive to find &/or drill... via building oil rigs, etc.

LIGHT SWEET CRUDE OIL, which is primarily located in the MIDDLE EAST, sells @ a huge premium, taking very little effort to refine as gasoline, heating oil, etc.etc

- Iran rejecting all UN demands to stop enriching uranium.
- US mine sweepers on station ready to work the Straights of Hormuz.
- Troop buildups in Iraq and Afgahnistan. Both neighbors of a certain belicose country.
- Increased Kurdish rebel activity in Iran.
- Syria undertaking a very quick military buildup of it's forces with Iranian and Russian assistance.
- Russia supplying Iran advanced anti-aircraft missile systems.
- Russia upset by our planned installation of defensive anti ballistic missile systems in Europe to defend against future Iranian ICBMs.

The possibility of short or long term disruptions of oil shipping in the gulf seem to be extremely high. There is very much a head in the sand mentality much like it was before WWII. When the reality of the situation sets in the energy sector is going to be the place to be. I wish I had more to invest.

With two carrier groups in the gulf I don't think you will have to wait long for this one to pick back up. Unless there is a major power shift in Tehran there will be a conflict between Iran and America. America will not allow a country that wants to destroy Israel become a nuclear power.
