The original founder and inventor was Jim McGreen.

Jim McGreen assigned the patent rights for the original Zappy scooter to Zapworld. The Xebra and the Zapino and the ZAP PK are all imported from China. There are no patents held by ZAP on any of these vehicles.

Jim McGreen was forced out in 2000 by Mr a.d Mrs Gary Starr along with Jerome Schneider (Steve's father),Steve Schneider, Jeff Schneider (Steve's brother and President of Voltage Vehicles/RAP Group) and Nancy Hayssen (Steve's niece). The Schneider family members were all on the BoD of AWSS (Advanced Wireless Systems Inc) along with Stanley Wilson at the time. AWSS was in the process of "aquiring" Zapworld at the time. Jim McGreen made the mistake of letting Gary Starr buy into his business and become a "co founder". Once Zapworld was "acquired" by AWSS, Gary Starr, Susan Starr ,Steve, Jeff, Nancy and Stanley Wilson all voted Jim McGreen out. The original shareholders of AWSS lost all their shares when AWSS became Zapworld.
