Canadian oil firm Interoil Corp expects to complete the sale of a 20-35 percent stake in its liquefied natural gas project in Papua New Guinea by the end of this year, Chief Executive Officer Phil Mulacek said on Monday.

The project may receive state approvals in the third quarter, building contracts may be awarded in the first quarter of next year and a final investment decision is expected by the end of 2010, LNG Intelligence said.

NEW DELHI, July 27 (Reuters) - Papua New Guinea's (PNG) Trade Minister Samuel T Abal on Monday said Indian firm Petronet LNG is in talks to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from InterOil's project in the island nation. The Indian firm had earlier been negotiating to buy LNG from ExxonMobil Corp's project in PNG. Exxon's project would start exporting about 6 million tonnes of LNG every year for 30 years from early 2014, the minister said. He said all stake holders in this project -- Exxon, PNG government and Australia-listed Oil Search Ltd, and Santos had already sold LNG volumes, forcing the Indian firm to look for alternatives.

01 Jul 2009 It is reported that China National Offshore Oil Corp and PetroChina are considering bidding up to USD 500 million for a stake in a planned natural gas project of Canada based InterOil Corp. The report said that however, it is not clear whether bids will be made by the parent companies or their listed entities and it has been reported that the Chinese government may decide to allow only one Chinese oil firm to bid for the project.
